5 Steps for Effective Meditation

Meditation is not a complex or mystical technique but a journey back to yourself. In the book “Messages from Stillness”, Master Oneness shares a simple yet profound meditation method through 5 basic steps. Let us explore each step in detail to begin your journey of inner transformation.
The meditative posture is not just about how you place your body, but how you prepare your mind for deep stillness.
- Choose the Full-lotus or Half-lotus position based on your ability.
- Keep your spine straight at 90 degrees (the key for energy flow).
- Completely relax every muscle.
Master Oneness emphasizes: Right posture means sitting upright without any pressure.
The breath is the bridge between the body and mind, the anchor that keeps us in the present moment.
- Gently close your eyes, focus on the breath.
- Observe objectively like a scientist.
- Let the breath be natural (do not control, do not hold).

The mind often clings to thoughts. This is the most difficult yet most crucial step.
- Accept every thought/emotion that arises.
- Do not resist, do not pursue.
- Maintain a neutral observer’s attitude.
- Remind yourself: “Everything is temporary.”
The intellect is a good tool in life, but an obstacle in meditation.
- Avoid analyzing the experience.
- When reasoning begins, recognize it and return to observation.
This is the most quintessential step: Total release (Surrender).

- Understand that you do not “create” meditation; you only create the conditions.
- Let go of all expectations of results.
- “Surrender” to open up to the infinite.
🌱 The Seed: You cannot pull a seed up to make it grow faster. Sow the seed and be patient.
