✿ RECAP DAY 1 | RETREAT HOME FOR TET – PACKING PATIENCE, TOUCHING TRANQUILITY
On the first day of returning “Home,” the Tet atmosphere has seeped into every small corner. It is not the hustling Tet of the city streets, but a Tet of connection and simple yet profound lessons amidst the lush nature of Hoang Hac Gia Trang.

Gathering Love from the Smallest Things
The first day of “Home for Tet” began with a vibrant atmosphere from early dawn, amidst the chirping of birds. Everyone, from adults to children, busily prepared for the upcoming festive days together.
Some meticulously cleaned each vibrant green Dong leaf, while others skillfully carved carrots and radishes into beautiful shapes. The joyful laughter helped bridge the gap between generations, bringing everyone closer.
Beyond mere preparation, this was a wonderful bonding activity for all members. In that atmosphere of joy and passion, traditional stories were retold, and cultural values were naturally transmitted through every gesture and specific action.

✿ Cake Wrapping Workshop – When “Soft Ties Bind Tight” the Mind
The highlight of the day was the cake-wrapping workshop, where everyone experienced hand-wrapping Banh Chung, Banh U, and Banh Tet—traditional cakes deeply rooted in the Vietnamese Lunar New Year.
The afternoon was not just about making a cake; it was a journey to Unleash the mind through precious lessons.
Lesson from the Bamboo String: “Soft Ties Bind Tight”
One of the most impressive lessons was the art of tying the bamboo string (lat). When the string is dry and stiff, tying it tight requires great strength and effort. But once soaked in water, it becomes supple and flexible, making it easier to mold and providing a much firmer hold.
The smaller and thinner the string, the tighter it binds.
This is not just a technique; it is a philosophy of life: sometimes flexibility and grace yield better results than rigidity and stubbornness. In life, softness and skillfully applied gentleness often create the strongest bonds of connection.

Wrapping Cakes is Wrapping Patience
Layering the leaves requires absolute care in every corner of the mold to ensure the cake is not hollow and possesses a beautiful, square shape. Every fold and every corner must be lined thoroughly and pressed with care.
If done in haste or with negligence, the cake will not be firm, the leaves may tear, or it might even burst during the long boiling process. Through this, everyone realized the lesson of patience, meticulousness, and mindfulness in the smallest details. Each perfectly square cake is the result of devotion—what is done in a hurry and without care rarely endures.

✿ Gratitude from Real Experience

For most participants, this was their first time wrapping cakes by hand. Everyone expressed surprise upon realizing how many stages, how much meticulousness, and how much craftsmanship are required to create a complete cake.
Surprise was accompanied by a deep sense of appreciation and gratitude for the artisans and the skillful hands that bring us these traditional cakes.
A Moment of Pride
Dũng shared: “Before, I only watched my father wrap cakes. Now, I feel confident I can do it myself. I’ll make 10 to give to my nieces and nephews!”
The joy of self-mastery is truly radiant!Alongside new lessons and skills, everyone had the chance to relax their minds, breathe in the fragrance of the flora, and feel the serenity of the fresh natural space at Hoang Hac Gia Trang—a precious spiritual gift amidst a busy life.
✿ Purification with Fire and Stillness

Closing the long day was a 15-minute deep meditation with Master Mukesh. He shared about purifying oneself through the connection with Fire—Agni, one of the five elements of the Five Movements (Wu Xing).
The meditation session not only helped everyone relax after a dynamic day but also brought profound reflections. The sacred fire does not just warm us; it helps us burn away unnecessary attachments and negative thoughts that drain our inner energy. It is a reminder to purify the soul, to enter the New Year with a lighter and clearer spirit.
As the first day closes, everyone feels lighter, filled with emotions and beautiful memories. From the collective activities in the morning to the meaningful afternoon workshop and the purifying evening meditation, it has been a complete journey of culture, connection, and self-growth. Ready to Awaken a pure and energetic new beginning.
