Life is like a mix of things you can control and things you can’t.
This includes objects, people, and even your own life itself. Let’s look at your own body as an example. The external part, like moving your hands and legs, choosing your clothes, and styling your hair, is within your control. But the inner workings of your body, like your heart and lungs, are fixed and can’t be changed. It’s not like rearranging furniture in your room. This concept applies to many aspects of life. About 50% of life is under your control, while the other 50% isn’t.
However, how you handle the 50% you can control greatly affects your overall quality of life. If you manage this portion well, it can harmonize with the 50% you can’t control. But if you don’t, it can lead to chaos. When the 50% you can control aligns with the remaining 50%, you can live a profound and fulfilling life.
Life is akin to sailing a ship on the open sea. You have control over the sails, the rudder, and navigation, all essential elements to steer the ship in the direction you desire. Yet, the weather, currents, and other ships in the sea are beyond your control. You can prepare for storms, adjust your course, and interact with other vessels, but ultimately, you can’t dictate the sea’s behavior.
In life, your choices, actions, and mindset are within your sphere of control.
This encompasses decisions regarding your career, education, health, and how you treat others. Your thoughts, emotions, and reactions to circumstances also fall within this domain. It’s like having the ability to sculpt a piece of clay into a form you desire.
However, just as the sea remains unpredictable, there are aspects beyond your control. You can’t determine external events, the actions of others, or unexpected twists of fate. It’s like facing the unpredictability of the weather at sea – sometimes it’s smooth sailing, and other times you encounter rough waters.
Efforts to control life should primarily focus on managing what’s within your domain. You can improve your skills, enhance your knowledge, and work diligently to earn money. You can invest time in nurturing relationships, being kind, and fostering connections. These efforts increase the likelihood of success, happiness, and fulfilling relationships.

Understanding the balance between what you can and can’t control is crucial for a fulfilling life.
Strive to excel within your realm of influence, but also learn to accept and adapt to the aspects beyond your control. This harmony between effort and acceptance is where you’ll find peace and contentment amidst life’s unpredictable journey.
In closing, I invite you to take a moment to reflect on your own journey through the seas of life. Remember the times when you successfully navigated through the challenges, and let them inspire you. Cultivate resilience, set realistic expectations, and embrace gratitude for the beautiful mix of control and unpredictability that life offers.
As you go forward, remember this: Life’s true essence lies in how you manage your ship. So, take charge of your sails, steer your course with purpose, and embrace the journey, knowing that within the balance of control and acceptance, you’ll find the peace, fulfillment, and contentment you seek.
