In the meditative tradition, Ānāpānasati (Mindfulness of Breathing) is one of the most fundamental and time-honored methods.
Rather than trying to control the mind or create a special state, the practitioner simply observes the natural breath, noticing each in-breath and out-breath with awareness.
As attention gradually settles on the breath, the mind grows calmer. From there, the capacity to observe, to concentrate, and to be at peace is nurtured naturally.
This is the foundation for building a life of awareness and balance.
